INFORMATION FOR THE BEGINNER SQUARE DANCER

1.             SQUARE DANCING IS FUN!  Your Instructor will do his best to help you realize this from the beginning.

2.        Square Dancing is a casual activity. There are no strangers among dancers.  During the class everyone wears

name tags to help you learn the names of your fellow dancers and Angels

3.        Later you may want to “dress western”, but for the classes, just dress comfortably.

   GENTS WEAR LONG SLEEVED SHIRTS.

4.        Ladies do not wear wristwatches.  Most ladies’ watches have fragile bands and are quite easily broken or knocked

           off.

5.        Be careful of the kind of jewelry you wear, if any.  Rough or sharpedged pins, rings, etc. may scratch others.

           Avoid use of perfume.

6.        The use of alcoholic beverages prior to or during a square dance is not a permissible practice.

7.        Gentlemen, remember you have both a strength and weight advantage over the ladies.  Be GENTLE as you

           execute each move.

8.        Each class will have different Bluebonnet Club members acting as “Square Angels” who will assist you and the

instructor during the lessons. For optimum learning experience, we suggest couples not dance with each other

           exclusively.

9.        Listening is the key to becoming a good square dancer. If during a class you do not understand an instruction, do

not hesitate to ask for additional explanation from the INSTRUCTOR.   More information about the calls can be

           found  at  www.bluebonnets.irisar.com  or  www.tamtwirlers.org
